 Fergus - For sorting all the puzzles the other children had put in the box without completing.  Stevie was very grateful that you decided to do this so that she didn't have to do it all on her own!

Brody - For all the helpful little things you do without being asked.  Putting rubbish in the bin, helping the younger children put their shoes on, redirecting children on bikes or with buggies so they don't get hurt.....

Alivia and Ruby - Thank you so much for going round and tidying things away that other children leave out.  You make sure everything goes back in the right places.  I think you do a better job than Mandy and Stevie!! 

Dear Parents,

Well unfortunately our very own caterpillars will not be arriving for a little while despite us ordering them to arrive this week.  However, that didn't stop us from learning about them.  We read 'The Hungry Caterpillar' lots of times to help us say the days of the week in order and we exercised our memories remembering which fruits he eat on which days, as well as remembering 8 out of 10 items he eat on the Saturday without any clues from Mandy.

We created our very own hungry caterpillar that is now crawling along the wall by the bug rug.  It was a team effort painting the plates for each part of the caterpillar.  The childdren have also been starting to learn about the life cycle of caterpillars with some of the older children knowing that the caterpillar goes into a chrysalis before becoming a buterfly. 

Next week our focus will be butterflies.  This will involve painting on just one paper wing and printing it to the other so that the children understand that butterflies wings are symmetrical.  The older children can try making symmetrical patterns with the magnetic shapes and the peg boards.  We will learn a new butterfly song and see how many we can spot when we are out about, finding the names for them in a book or on the internet.
