SIGNS OF SPRING....AT LAST (15.03.2024)

*STARS OF THE WEEK*

***I am so kind….***

Reggie and Phoebe - Stevie and Ruby were impressed by how quickly you both reacted to another child tipping over in the play car and helped them out.  You also both show concern for others and encourage the younger children.  We love having you at Pebbles.

Stanley - you are also such a kind child, you moved off of one of the new chairs for Violet and you also distributed all the little shapes you had made with the cutters - taking some home for mummy; giving some to all the grown-ups and the children.

Special mention to.....

Kit -  twice with the drying-up this week, happy to do all of it on your own not share the task with another child.

Lucas - We are so proud of you for now using the toilet with very little adult support. Considering you were refusing to use the toilet at Pebbles before half-term you have made brilliant progress. Well done.

Dear parents,

We have been out and about looking for signs of Spring at long last.  Despite the footpaths being incredibly muddy and slippery we went on a wonderful walk on Wednesday, where we saw budding trees, blossom, daffodils, periwinkle, primroses and other flowers I can not name. But there were definite signs of Spring even though the weather is still not particularly Spring like!

To encourage the sun to come out we decided to learn 'The sun has got his hat on' (with Makaton signs).  IT WORKED the sun came out and we were so pleased we went out and did P.E on the school playing field.  We then created some Spring music with our instruments so that hopefully it will come out again on Saturday and Sunday.  The composition was very good but I am afraid we can't guarantee sunshine, sorry!

The children loved making flowers out of Mandy's Spring yellow playdough and creating a beautiful Spring display with Jane. They painted a flower filled backdrop and created a field full of flowers, butterflies, chicks and lambs.    Not that we are obsessed but the birthday board is being changed to a Spring theme with a flower for each month of the year and a big sun.

As Easter is fast approaching we will be making a number of Easter related items; making bird feeders (Stevie's favourite activity); Ruby will be making cards; for the small group activities the younger children will matching the baby animal to it's adult and making the appropriate animal sound. The older children will be learning the names of the baby animals (something we have discovered they are not very good at).  We are also looking forward to you joining us next week for 'Stay and Play'.

Have a lovely weekend,

The Pebbles team.
