NEW BUILDING! (26.6.2026)

  • This week at Pebbles:

I am sure you have all worked out that Pebbles life has been manic recently.  We have been back and forth between the classroom and the new building.  The children have been brilliant at helping to take toys and other items into the new Pebbles building and have gradually seen it development into a fantastic space that now nearly meets all of our requirements.  We just need to put up the fencing that arrived this week, a shed (also arriving soon) and a soft tarmac surface that will be laid during the summer holiday.

We have gone to great efforts to keep the children cool this week, as we had to be out of the new building and the classroom on Monday so the kitchen could be fitted.  We are so very grateful to Rob owner of Rockwood kitchens for installing the kitchen units for free.  We now have a lovely little kitchen space, cooker, sink, dishwasher and fridge providing us with the ability to cook with the children (when it is cooler) and to ensure all cups, plate and utensils are washed at a high temperature.

We were so grateful for our air conditioning unit on Friday and despite the children being quite noisy on our first few days in the new building they are now settling down and are getting used to all the new features.  The toilets are especially good as they allow the children to have privacy and independence (great for the ones going to school in September) but are easily access by the teachers if any assistance is needed.

Activities this week have including making England flags for the world cup celebrations; lots of keeping cool in the shade of the veggie patch; eating home grown fried courgette; spending time at forest school and in the school hall and classroom outdoor space.

Next week on WEDNESDAY 1st JULY is  sports day - the school gates open at 1pm and races start at 1.15.  All are welcome and children who attend Pebbles in the afternoon can stay with parents to watch the rest of the races/siblings; can go home after the Pebbles races if parents attend or can stay at Pebbles until normal pick up time.

As our veggie patch is doing so well, we will be making a girl and boy scarecrow to watch over our veggies and other plants.  We will also be planting some flowers in the tyres and having a few last minute practises for sports day.
