Actually, now we have completed our rainbow display adding raindrops, grass and meadow flowers. We are very proud of it and hope to transfer it to our new building.
We went to the park on Monday and were so amazed by the younger children as there were no tears or moaning when walking there and back. They also had a really lovely time at the park and they were very indepedent, coping with a missing rung on the ladder and the wide slide. Very impressive!
We have also spent lots of time outdoors in the Forest School and at the veggie garden, making sure the plants have all been watered andmoving the remaining soil into the flower bed and one of the tyres so the children can enjoy digging without disturbing the plants. As well as challenging the children's physical skills whilst they completed a timed obstacle course.
The children loved making rainbow pizzas and were good at chosing their preference of foods as they were given a choice from two fruit or veg of each of colour of the rainbow. It was lovely to actually cook with the children and for them to enjoy eating the healthy choices they made. We also tested some of the children sense of smell, covering their eyes with scarves and then they smelt some of the fruit and vegetables we put on the pizza.
We will continue activities that encourage the children to use their different senses after half-term, continue reinforcing the benefits of the different coloured fruit and vegetables on our bodies and we will be making a boy and girl scarecrow to watch over our plants when we are not there.
