This week at Pebbles:

Well its been another hot week.  The children on the whole seem to cope better than we do, however, we have made every effort to get them outside and keep them cool.  So if they have been outside we have either made sure it is first thing up the veggy patch when they harvested an impressive number of potatoes and sat under the shaded corner to have snack before going into the Forest School site which is the coolest place to be bar inside the Pebbles building.  We had three visits to Forest School this week.  One with Reverend Claire where they collected small items from nature and imprinted them into clay and another where the children played hide and seek (with high-vis's on), making them rather easy to spot, but they enjoyed it.  They also loved sledging down the slope - who needs snow!

Indoors we have been very impressed with how well the school leavers have been honing their fine motor skills through colouring, drawing and writing their names.  All of a sudden they all seem to be trying really hard and being really careful.  We have discovered their copying skills are also getting good so Amy painted them a sunflower (we have lots growing at the veggy patch) which they then did a great job of copying with paint.

To help keep the children cool, even indoors we washed the potatoes and stood in water in the builders trays.

Next week is obviously our last week before the summer holiday.  It's a normal week for us bar Friday when we only have the school leavers in the afternoon.  We are watching the weather forecast closely and the party in the park may become a party at Pebbles if it is too hot.  We will let parents know on Friday where to pick up from.
